Let’s have a little fun and discuss some of the more graphic, violent, sad, or just plain awkward moments that have plastered the Hulk history.  Be it a passing meeting between spouses of a gruesome scene that nobody saw coming – this year I’ll have you squirming in your seat!

Half-Life could easily be one of the most disturbing Hulk villains ever.  He’s in a class all his own – and he’s in a category with a deformed, reptilian irradiated creature!  Half -Life was was already a corpse – he could drain the life out of people, which he did every night, but he didn’t have that much luck when he encountered the Hulk.

Half-Life jumped on the Grey Hulk and the Hulk responded in kind by tearing his body away from him.  Unfortunately for Half-Life, his brittle bones and weak joints were no match for the Hulk’s brute strength.  Hulk throws his limbs in every direction and that should have been the end of the grossest villain ever.

They have met many times.  They battled over and over most of the time with an obvious answer to “Who can beat who?” but in Hulk #8 the Wolverine made a move we, the readers, had never seen before pulled on the Hulk.  He shoved two of his bony pig stickers right into the Hulk’s eye balls.  We now know this wasn’t Wolverine after all – but it still doesn’t change the shock of the moment.

I mentioned before that Aaron’s run could easily be this whole list.  His run served of exactly how to lose a whole run of Hulk fans in two issues.  But I decided to choose to only pick a couple of the worst moments from Aaron’s run – and oddly, the other moment I picked comes from the same issue – but yes – I have chosen the scene of just how the Hulk managed to separate himself from Banner.  With the help of another brilliant (albeit it, evil) mind – Doctor Doom.  Doom performs brain surgery on the Hulk with… wait for it… a adamantium chainsaw.

As ridiculous as it sounds it plays out even more insane on the pages.  Under the talent of Whilce Portacio we see Doom lowering the said chainsaw to a strapped down Hulk.  The Hulk… strapped down.  Let that sink in for a moment.  Also, later in the comic Doom states that he can actually SEE the parts of the brain that belong to Banner and which belong to the Hulk.  The series only gets worse from there…

By now everyone knows about the ultra disturbing events that have unfolded in the Hulk’s annual at the turn of the century.  It still hasn’t lost the shocking or even down right gross reason for the Hulk’s rampage in this issue.

Vision is the one who put it so succinctly.  Basically, the Hulk needs a little booty and he wants it from She Hulk.  He wants some cousin lovin’ and, laws, genetics and decency be damned, he is going to get it!  First he has to impress her by beating the hell out of her and anyone else approaches him.

Even a bit more odd and icky is that She Hulk goes along with it for a minute to let the brute down easily.  It still doesn’t sit well with the Hulk.  He rages off heartbroken and rejected.

And She Hulk?  She actually feels bad… bad about making the Hulk feel so alone.  Of course, the only way to make him NOT feel rejected was to let him lay down some pipe – and that just wouldn’t be kosher… on any level!

In the Hulk’s second bout with the awesome villain Speed Freak, the Hulk suffered a cut to the gut so bad that he was bleeding out.  Holding his open stomach shut with his own fist he was able to control the bleeding.  Of course his healing factor kicked in the close the gaping wound… right around his fist!

The image above was given to you out there as a challenge – who can tell me where the panel is from – well, 465 came the closest identifying the subtitle to the series – but I think I still take the win because he could not give me the issue # or the whole title – but I did mention it was a doozy!

The correct title is Avengers Two: Wonder Man and the Beast #3.  The Hulk is mentioned and shown in flashback.

Nothing revved my engine more than seeing a new Hulk item being promoted.  I miss ads like these too – mainly because they teased in the perfect way without giving away anything at all.  It was the kind of teaser that truly inspired excitement.  What other hero could possibly sell video games with just a silhouette and the mention of his skin color?  No one, I tell you, no one!

Anyone ever hear voices?  The Hulk hears voices and he does what any sane person would do.  He answers the voices out loud of course!  Not only that but he mentions not seeing anyone and continues the conversation because, why wouldn’t he?

Remember when you went over your friend’s house as a kid and he and his mother or father were yelling at each other?  Remember how all you could do was awkwardly sit there and hope it didn’t somehow turn on you – or worse – the parent gets fed up and just sends you home.  Ugh – that was the worst!

I can’t imagine the great guilt that Bruce Banner must feel every time he comes down from his Hulk transformation.  He immediately questions what he did or what kind of destruction he caused.  The fear you live with is nothing compared to knowing that you are one temper tantrum away from wiping out entire cities.  It must be like hearing stories about what you did the night before after a drunken bender.  Except with the Hulk… he usually doesn’t defecate on a police officer’s car right before getting tasered.
